Restaurant near Sainte-Maxime Centre
Nomadia — homemade cooking five minutes from downtown, with a 110-seat terrace and free parking
A restaurant easily reached from anywhere downtown
Nomadia isn't in Sainte-Maxime's historic centre. Our address is 252 route du Plan de la Tour — at the northern exit of town, on the road climbing to the Var hinterland. But just 5 minutes by car from the town centre, the port and La Croisette, we're the natural option for locals and holidaymakers who want to escape the bustle and the parking hassle.
Sainte-Maxime town centre has roughly thirty restaurants packed around the port and Place Victor Hugo. Many decent spots, a few excellent ones, but plenty of tourist tables with sea views and matching prices. We offer an alternative: homemade cooking, a calm terrace, free parking, fair prices.
Four good reasons to leave the centre for a 5-minute drive
Free on-site parking
Around twenty free spots in front of the restaurant — no meters, no zoning. In July and August, finding a spot downtown easily takes 20 to 30 minutes.
110-seat shaded terrace
A terrace lined with plane trees, naturally shaded, where tables aren't packed like at the port. Conversations are easy, kids have space to move.
Quiet guaranteed, just 5 min away
No scooters passing every minute, no music from neighbouring bars. The area stays residential: relaxed vibes for long meals.
Homemade cooking, fair prices
Slow-cooked lamb shank, artisan burgers, daily fish, lunch menu from €18. No frozen food, no vacuum-cooked dishes. Value for money beats most downtown spots.
Our cooking — the kind locals come back for
Many restaurants in central Sainte-Maxime run on fast-rotation mode: short standardized menu, dishes prepared in advance, rushed service to fit two seatings. It meets a real tourist need in high season, but it leaves little room for slow cooking or signature dishes. We've done the opposite: a tight menu but entirely homemade, slow cooking, market-fresh produce, fair prices for a full meal.
Our regulars come from the town centre (year-round locals, retirees, lunch-break workers), from nearby beaches (La Nartelle or La Madrague guests wanting a calm sit-down after swimming), and from neighbouring towns (Plan-de-la-Tour, Grimaud, Cogolin, Saint-Tropez). Many find us by word of mouth — we're featured in our where to eat in Sainte-Maxime guide and on Google reviews (4.8/5).
7-hour braised lamb shank
24€Our signature. Low-temperature 7-hour cook, fork-tender meat, reduced cooking jus, seasonal garnish.
Artisan homemade burger
16€Brioche bun from the local baker, fresh-ground beef, homemade caramelized onions, homemade BBQ sauce, fresh-cut fries.
Fresh catch of the day
22€Based on the market — sea bass, sea bream, red mullet. Cooked à la minute on the plancha, Var vegetables, Provence herb dressing.
How to reach Nomadia from the town centre
By car (the easiest). From Place Victor Hugo, the port or La Croisette, take the D25 (route du Plan de la Tour) heading north. The restaurant is on the right after about 2.5 km — 5 to 7 minutes depending on traffic. Free parking is right out front. No meters, no zoning, no time limit.
By bus. The Var N°01 line stops nearby. Around 12 to 15 minutes from the centre. Handy if you want a drink or cocktail at the Nomadia bar without worrying about driving back. Check evening return schedules — buses stop early.
By taxi. Around €12-15 from Place Victor Hugo, €8-10 from the port. Many holidaymakers in hotels take a cab, especially after a dinner with wine.
On foot or by bike. 35-45 minutes on foot via the D25 from the port, doable but not great in summer (no continuous sidewalk). By bike, 12-15 minutes via the same route, with a slight uphill.
