Sainte-Maxime has many terraces, a few beach huts, downtown cafés — but few spots that are truly both a bar and a restaurant. Nomadia is one of them. Between services, the bar area comes alive: wooden counter, cocktails made to order, draft beer and a friendly, unpretentious atmosphere.
Five minutes from downtown, accessible from Saint-Tropez (15 km), Grimaud (10 km), Plan-de-la-Tour (5 km). Free on-site parking.
The spirit of our bar — no beach club, no nightclub
When you search for a bar in Sainte-Maxime, results often point to beach huts at La Nartelle or cafés by the port. Two good options if you want to watch the sunset with your feet in the sand or enjoy a coffee as the boats go by. Nomadia offers something different: a neighbourhood bar-restaurant with a shaded terrace, a counter to lean on and regulars who nod hello.
Our crowd is mixed. Locals from Sainte-Maxime, Grimaud and Plan-de-la-Tour dropping by after work. Holidaymakers escaping the port bustle and Saint-Tropez prices. Groups of friends starting the evening before heading elsewhere to dance. Couples extending dinner over a digestif.
The bar serves both on the terrace and inside. Tuesday nights, on darts tournament night, the vibe shifts to pub mode: pints, darts, loud conversations. Other evenings are quieter — perfect for a relaxed drink before or after a meal.

Aperitifs at Nomadia — not your chain happy hour
We don't do pre-mixed pitcher cocktails or frozen boards you thaw and call charcuterie. Our aperitif is built as a real sharing moment: a Var charcuterie and cheese board sliced on site, taggiasche olives, country bread, homemade hummus. A glass of Provence AOP rosé or a pint of draft beer poured at the counter.
Our suppliers are local: coppa from a Grimaud butcher, mountain cheese from an upper-Var dairy, fresh goat cheese from a Plan-de-la-Tour producer. Everything is sliced on the spot, plated on slate, served with decent knives so two or four people can share easily.
On the cocktail side, our bartender works with homemade syrups (rosemary, thyme, preserved lemon) and fresh-pressed citrus. The 9€ Provence Spritz is a local twist on the Italian classic, with rosemary sprig and Var orange peel. Four non-alcoholic mocktails are available — not just coloured juice: Virgin mojito, Garden fizz with cucumber, Fresh citrus and a seasonal mocktail.
Event nights: darts, music, pub vibes
Tuesday — Darts night
Our weekly event: free tournament open to all, beginners and regulars. Pro electronic board, house rankings, small prizes for winners. The pub atmosphere starts at 7:30pm and runs until 1am.
Summer — Live music on the terrace
In July and August, local musicians perform one or two evenings a week. Acoustic guitarists, jazz duos, French singers. No stage setup — just a soft ambiance for your aperitif.
Themed evenings
Several times a year, we host themed nights: Var wine tasting, mezcal-tequila night, New Year's, Halloween. Special menus and dedicated cocktails, reservation recommended.
Afterwork and dining aperitifs
The bar suits afterwork drinks with colleagues or dining aperitifs that stretch into the evening. Boards, cocktails, beers, followed by a full meal if you wish. Groups up to 30 welcome on reservation.

Bars in Sainte-Maxime: what exists, what’s missing
Sainte-Maxime is neither Cannes nor Saint-Tropez. The bar scene breaks down into three categories, each with its own limits.
Beach bars (La Rascasse, Prao Plage, Mahi Plage, La Voile) open from April to September. Sand between your toes, rosé facing the sea. Holiday vibe, holiday prices (cocktails €14-18, rosé by the glass €8-12). Closed from October to March.
Downtown cafés (Café Maxime, Le P'tit Centre, Le Café de France) serve morning coffee and late-afternoon aperitifs. Terraces on the market square or along the port. They close early — rarely past 10pm off season.
Wine bars like Cave Parpellé offer tastings and sharing boards in a more intimate setting focused on wine and local produce.
What Sainte-Maxime lacks is a neighbourhood bar that combines relaxed aperitifs, draft beer, fairly priced cocktails and an atmosphere that holds until 11pm (or 1am on Tuesdays). That's the niche Nomadia fills from its spot on route du Plan de la Tour — not a beach hut, not a nightclub, not a wine-only bar. A place where you come for one drink and stay because the mood is right.
A bar accessible from the entire Gulf of Saint-Tropez
Sainte-Maxime sits centrally in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, and Nomadia benefits from a strategic spot on the route du Plan de la Tour. At the northern exit of town, you avoid downtown traffic and enjoy free parking — a rare perk on the Côte d'Azur.
From Saint-Tropez: 15 km via D25, about 20 minutes. The route bypasses the Sainte-Maxime centre bottleneck. From Grimaud and Port-Grimaud: 10 km, 10 minutes. From Cogolin: 12 km, 12 minutes. From Plan-de-la-Tour: 5 km, 5 minutes. From Fréjus: 20 km via N98, 25 minutes.
For nights out, driving is simplest (returns up to 1am on Tuesdays, 11pm on other days). The Var bus line N°01 serves a nearby stop for daytime trips. A taxi from Saint-Tropez costs around €35-45 one way.
Evening bars in Sainte-Maxime: where to go after sunset
After 10pm in Sainte-Maxime, options thin out fast. Beach bars close with the last rays of sun, downtown cafés pull down their shutters, and the few nightclubs in the area (Les Caves du Roy in Saint-Tropez, Le VIP Room in summer) charge prices that don't suit everyone.
If you want a bar with atmosphere in Sainte-Maxime without dancing until 4am, the 7pm-11pm window is prime time. On Tuesdays, Nomadia stays open until 1am thanks to the darts tournament — one of the few nights that run past midnight in the commune without being a nightclub.
For an aperitif that naturally flows into dinner, our setup works well: start with a pint or cocktail at the counter, nibble a sharing board, and if hunger strikes, sit down for a meal without changing venue. The restaurant menu runs alongside bar service, solving the eternal dilemma between having drinks and finding somewhere to eat.
